SW Pediatrics and Family Care Welcomes New Family Nurse Practitioner

DEMING — In April 2015, Southwest Pediatrics and Family Care opened at 1200 S. Eighth Street. The Health and Wellness Clinic has added a new health care provider to the staff at 1200 S. Eighth Street in Deming, NM.

Owners, Dr. Florence C. and Joel Roque, continue to provide new and improved services to the community and nearby towns by selecting the best healthcare for patients and their families.

“Our staff includes qualified and knowledgeable providers and clinical staff whose goal is to provide your child with individualized and effective care,” Dr. Roque said. “Our mission statement is to provide holistic care for families with an emphasis on disease prevention, growth and development, and health promotion.”


Carlos Vazquez, FNP

Carlos Vazquez is SWPFC’s newest staff member. He was born and raised in Albuquerque in a close-knit, bilingual Hispanic family that understands the importance of family, culture and tradition.

He passed on the importance of these values ​​to his three children who have always been his motivation to achieve his goals.

Vazquez began his career in the medical field over eight years ago as a licensed practical nurse, which sparked his passion for healthcare. Since then, he has gone through the various stages of nursing to include Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse and now Nurse Practitioner.

Her experience in nursing has allowed her to acquire in-depth knowledge in paediatrics, cardiology and intensive care.

Vazquez received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University and has since completed her master’s degree in nursing with a specialization in family medicine at Grand Canyon University.

Dr. Roque grew up in a metropolitan city in the Philippine Islands. Living and practicing in Deming reminds him of the similar simple rural life, while enjoying the modern conveniences of the surrounding towns,

Dr. Roque and her husband Joel are actively involved locally through their church activities, and internationally through their charitable arm, the JoFlo Outreach International (JOI) Foundation.

Dr. Roque came to the United States for college. She eventually graduated with clinical honors from Rush University in Chicago, with a master’s degree in maternity and child and a doctorate in primary care pediatrics with a subspecialty in genetics.

Since childhood, Dr. Roque has been involved in community and faith-based settings where she met her husband. She has over 20 years of experience in pediatric primary care, asthma, allergies and congenital disorders. Dr. Roque strives to provide a holistic approach to healthcare for his patients from all walks of life.

“When you meet Carlos, you will quickly learn that he is a compassionate and empathetic provider with a pragmatic approach and an incredible listening ear. As a family nurse practitioner, Carlos strives to provide quality holistic health care while focusing on individual patient needs,” said Dr. Roque.
