Shah Rukh Khan thanks Egyptian fan for helping Indian teacher, sends photos and handwritten note: ‘Very generous…’

Ahead of the New Year, a story about an Egyptian travel agency, which made an exception for an Indian professor for non-payment because she was from Shah Rukh Khan’s country, went viral. On Saturday, the teacher in question – Ashwini Deshpande, wrote on Twitter that Shahrukh acknowledged the incident and sent an autographed photo and a handwritten note of appreciation for his Egyptian fan, as well as autographed photos for his daughter and the teacher’s daughter as well.

On New Year’s Eve, Ashwini tweeted that an Egyptian travel agent had made an exception for her regarding payment issues simply because she was “from the country of Shah Rukh Khan”. In the tweet, she wrote: “I needed to transfer money to a travel agency in Egypt. Had problems with the transfer. He said: you are from the country of @iamsrk. I trust you. I’ll make the reservation, you pay me later. For anywhere else, I wouldn’t do that. But anything for @iamsrk and he did.

The travel agent and Ashwini have received a lot of love from fans. A few days later, on January 10, she shared an update that she and her husband had met the travel agent in Egypt. Asking Shah Rukh’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, for an autographed photo of the star, she tweeted, “My husband and I finally met the man in this story today! I told him about the tsunami of good humor generated by his story. @RedChilliesEnt: He would love a photo from @iamsrk, autographed with his daughter’s name if possible. Please DM me if this can be arranged, thanks!”

SRK agreed and sent three autographed photos along with a handwritten note. “A very happy ending to this story. 3 photos signed by SRK arrived today, one with the most beautiful message for the Egyptian travel agent, one for his daughter and one for mine @Ketaki_Varma,” Ashwini tweeted, and thanked Shah Rukh’s manager , Pooja Dadlani, for making this possible. “Thank you @pooja_dadlani for reaching out and of course to @iamsrk for the gracious gesture,” the tweet concluded.

In the handwritten note, Shah Rukh wrote, “Thank you for being kind to my fellow Indian. Very kind and generous of you. May your good souls multiply.

SRK has kept a low profile on social media over the past few months since his son Aryan Khan was arrested for being involved in a drugs affair and later released on bail. SRK has moved away from the public eye except for occasional trading positions.
