Sanford Health welcomes Elizabeth Berg, MD to walk-in and acute rehab teams – Bemidji Pioneer
Sanford Health in Bemidji welcomes Elizabeth Berg, MD, to the walk-in and acute rehab teams.
Dr. Berg will split his time between the Sanford Bemidji Walk-In Clinic and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, Dr. Berg earned her undergraduate degree in biology with a concentration in women’s studies before continuing her medical studies at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, MN. After graduating, she went to St. John’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN for her family medicine residency. Dr. Berg is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Prior to joining Sanford Health, Dr. Berg worked with Peace Corp in Uganda for a year and a half before becoming a family physician and practicing medicine at Essentia Health Lakeside Clinic in Duluth, MN.
At the walk-in clinic, Dr. Berg treats patients of all ages who may have a wide variety of ailments, including cold and flu symptoms; cough and sore throat; earache; infections, including urinary, sinus, and eye infections; minor cuts, lacerations and burns; skin conditions, including rashes, poison ivy and insect bites; and sprains and strains.
Through his work with the Acute Rehabilitation Team, Dr. Berg works collaboratively with a patient’s care team to provide inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation care for those recovering from severe induced injuries. by trauma, including but not limited to stroke, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, and burns.
Asked about her practice, Dr. Berg shared, “I believe the best care is patient-centered care; this happens when we have open communication and an understanding of all the factors that contribute to a person’s well-being and work together to develop a treatment plan.
Delighted to be closer to his hometown of Clearbrook, Dr. Berg is happy to be back living in Lake Country. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, cross-country skiing, biking and paddle boarding.
