The University established the School of Data Science in July 2018 to demonstrate its commitment and leadership in the field of data science. It is the first independent data science school in Hong Kong’s higher education sector.

The School of Data Science aspires to be a world-class school of excellence in data science education and research to address key challenges in the field. The School welcomes applications and nominations for full/tenure-track faculty positions. Full Professor, Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in Data Science or related fields in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Engineering. Associate Professor candidates and above joining the School may be considered for nomination for the Global STEM Professorship Scheme sponsored by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. Functions:

Appointees are expected to make a significant contribution to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; advising postgraduate students in research; play an active role in curriculum development and management; maintain an active research profile; actively seek external grants and contracts to support research efforts; provide service to the governance of the School and the University; contribute to professional engagement, networking and outreach activities that enhance the academic and professional life of the School.

Conditions:

A PhD in Data Science/Statistics/Computer Science/Engineering or related disciplines, with a strong research record and promising teaching ability.

Salary and conditions of service

Total compensation will be determined by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent benefits include gratuities, time off, medical and dental plans, and relocation assistance (if applicable). The first appointment will be on a fixed-term contract.
